The basics

What is a technical diagram?

A technical diagram shows the parts of a system and how data or traffic moves between them: an office network, a data pipeline, or how code gets from a laptop to production.

Clear icons and labelled arrows make these diagrams readable for engineers and non-engineers alike.

  • Mobile app
  • Load balancer

Features

What makes it work

  • Infrastructure icons

Servers, databases, storage, routers, switches, firewalls, queues, functions, containers and more.

  • Zones and groups

Frames for a LAN, a VPC or a cluster — move the frame and everything inside moves with it.

  • Labelled, routed lines

Elbow connectors that follow your layout, with labels like “push”, “deploy” or “events”.

  • Real templatesStart from a worked example and make it yours.
  • Smart connectorsDrag a + handle to connect; Tab adds the next step.
  • PNG, SVG & file exportFor docs and slides — or a .json to keep editing.
  • Share linksSend a link; whoever opens it gets their own copy.
  • Private by defaultSaved in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
  • Works on touchPan, pinch and edit on a tablet or phone.

Templates

Start from a worked example

Open one, change the words and it's yours — every element stays editable.

How it works

Three steps to done

Create a technical diagram
  1. Step 1

Start from the network, pipeline or deployment template.

  2. Step 2

Add icons from the palette and connect them with the + handles.

  3. Step 3

Group parts in frames, then export for your documentation.

Use cases

Who it's for

  • IT and networks

Office networks, firewalls and devices for audits and handovers.

  • Data teams

Sources, queues, transforms and warehouses on one page.

  • DevOps runbooks

From repository to production cluster, step by step.

Common questions

What's the difference from an architecture diagram?

They overlap. Here “technical” covers networks, pipelines and deployments; the Architecture Diagram solution focuses on application services and data stores. Both use the same icons.

Can I change an icon?

Yes — select the element and pick another icon from the floating bar.

Can I export to Visio or draw.io?

Not directly. Export PNG or SVG for documents, or the .json board file to keep editing here.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up. Diagrams are saved in your browser.
