How to use the Interview Practice
- Paste the job description and, optionally, your resume. Set the job title, your level, the interview types and how long you have.
- Review the plan: each question says why it's relevant to this role.
- Answer by typing or by voice (where your browser supports speech recognition). Get feedback, answer the follow-up, improve your answer or flag it to retry.
- Finish for a summary: strengths, areas to improve, concepts to revise, exercises and a preparation plan you can copy or download.
What does this tool do?
The plan is built from the advert and your background: behavioural questions from the competencies it asks for, scenario questions from its responsibilities, deep-dive questions about bullets on your own resume, screening and salary questions, and technical questions only for the technologies the job involves — JavaScript and TypeScript, React and Next.js, REST APIs, C# and ASP.NET Core, SQL and database design, system design, debugging and performance, or authentication and security.
Feedback is criterion by criterion with the reason for each rating: relevance, structure, specific evidence, ownership, reflection and communication — and, for technical questions, which key points you covered, which you missed and any misconceptions (for example, encrypting rather than hashing passwords). STAR is used for behavioural questions, not forced onto technical ones.
The “stronger version” rebuilds your answer from your own sentences in a better order, with clearly marked gaps such as [Result: what changed?]. It never invents achievements or outcomes for you.
Voice answers use your browser's own speech recognition; questions can be read aloud with its speech synthesis. Where these aren't available, the tool says so and you type instead. The analysis is rule-based and runs in your browser: it follows published, explainable checks rather than an AI model, so the same input always gives the same result and every finding says why.
Why use it?
- Questions tied to the job description — with the reason shown.
- Text or real voice input.
- Follow-up questions based on what your answer missed.
- Technical answers checked against key concepts and misconceptions.
- Session summary with a prioritised preparation plan.
- Optional, local-only session history you can delete any time.
Accuracy and limits
- Feedback is rule-based: it checks for structure, evidence and key concepts, not whether your story is impressive. Treat it as a coach's checklist, and practise out loud with a person too.
- Technical checks look for the key ideas a good answer covers; a correct answer in unusual wording may be under-credited — read the explanation, not just the rating.
Privacy
Everything you type is processed in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers or stored by us. There's no account to create and nothing to install.
Frequently asked questions
What is the STAR method?
Situation, Task, Action, Result: set the scene briefly, say what you needed to achieve, spend most of the answer on what you did, then give the outcome — with a number if you can back it up. It suits behavioural “tell me about a time…” questions.
Does voice input send my audio anywhere?
It uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. In some browsers, such as Chrome, the browser sends audio to its maker's service to transcribe. M2Toolkit doesn't receive or store your audio or answers.
Are my answers saved?
Not unless you turn on progress tracking. Then a summary of each session is saved in this browser; your answers are kept only if you also tick “Also keep my answers”. You can delete the history any time.
Can I practise technical interviews?
Yes. Technical questions are chosen from the technologies in the job description, and each answer is checked against the key points a good answer covers, with corrections for common misconceptions.
How should I answer “What are your salary expectations?”
Give a researched range for the total package, say you're flexible on structure, and ask about the full package. The Salary Calculator helps you compare offers and plan your ask.
