The basics
What is product planning?
Product planning is about choosing what to build next — and explaining why. A roadmap shows the plan over time; an impact/effort matrix shows how you prioritised; a user story map shows how features add up to a usable product release by release.
Keeping all three on boards makes the plan easy to discuss and easy to change.

Common questions
Now / Next / Later or quarters?
The template uses quarters; rename the headers to Now, Next and Later if you'd rather not commit to dates.
What is a user story map?
A layout of user activities across the top with the stories that support each one underneath, split into release slices — great for defining an MVP.
Can I link cards to Jira?
No — boards are standalone. Add ticket numbers in the card text if it helps.
Is it free?
Yes, free with no sign-up.
