How to use the Instagram & LinkedIn Carousel Maker
- Open the editor and choose how to start: one of 24 templates, an empty carousel, or “Turn text into slides” with a post you've already drafted.
- Pick the shape — Instagram portrait (1080 × 1350) or square, a LinkedIn document page, a vertical story or a 16:9 presentation slide.
- Edit on the canvas: double-click any text to rewrite it, drag things into place, and try the Layouts panel to rearrange a slide without retyping it.
- Set your brand once — palette, fonts, logo and handle — and switch on slide numbers or a progress bar.
- Open Checks and work through anything flagged, from text that overflows its box to colours that are hard to read.
- Preview it slide by slide, then download numbered PNGs in a ZIP for Instagram or a single PDF for a LinkedIn document post.
What does this tool do?
A carousel is a post people swipe through: a cover that makes a promise, a few slides that keep it, and a last slide that tells the reader what to do next. This editor is built for exactly that format. Slides sit in a strip down the side, the selected slide fills the canvas, and every setting for the selected text, shape or image is on the right — the same layout as the other M2Toolkit studios.
Consistency is handled for you. Colours and fonts come from one shared palette, so changing your brand colour updates every slide that uses it. Slide numbers and progress bars renumber themselves when you add, delete or reorder slides, and every slide keeps the same size, which Instagram requires within a single carousel.
The text-to-slides converter is rule-based, not AI. It reads the structure of what you paste — headings, numbered and bulleted lists, quotes, a closing summary or call to action — and lays it out using one of twelve structures, such as a step-by-step tutorial, myth vs fact, before and after, or a case study. It only splits paragraphs between sentences and never writes claims for you; if your text doesn't fit the structure you chose, it says what's missing. You check and edit the outline before any slides are made.
Your projects, images and brand kit are saved in this browser's own storage (IndexedDB). Nothing is uploaded, and there's no account, watermark or export limit.

Example: which size and export to use
Every slide in a carousel shares one size, so choose it before you design. Change it later and elements are scaled to the new shape, but a quick check of each slide is still worth it.
| Preset | Pixels | Best for | Download as |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instagram portrait | 1080 × 1350 | Biggest footprint in the Instagram feed (4:5) | ZIP of PNGs |
| Instagram square | 1080 × 1080 | The classic carousel shape | ZIP of PNGs |
| LinkedIn square | 1080 × 1080 | LinkedIn image posts or document pages | PDF or PNGs |
| LinkedIn document (4:5) | 1080 × 1350 | Swipeable LinkedIn document posts | |
| LinkedIn document (A4 ratio) | 1240 × 1754 | Report-style pages | |
| Story / vertical | 1080 × 1920 | Stories and vertical slides (9:16) | PNGs |
| Presentation | 1920 × 1080 | Talks, lessons and webinars (16:9) | PDF or PNGs |
Common mistakes
- A cover that teases instead of promising. Say what the reader will get — “5 ways to cut your onboarding time” beats “You won't believe this”.
- Too much text per slide. If a slide needs more than about 40 words, split it; Checks flags crowded slides.
- Moving the headline around from slide to slide. Keep its size and position steady so the carousel reads as one piece.
- Body text that's too small for a phone. On a 1080-pixel slide, anything under roughly 24 px is hard to read in a feed.
- Ending on “Thanks!”. Finish with a summary or a clear next step: save it, comment, or visit a link.
- Uploading Instagram PNGs out of order. The files in the ZIP are numbered (-slide-01, -slide-02 …) so they sort correctly.
Accuracy and limits
- PDF pages are high-resolution images of each slide, so the text in the PDF isn't selectable or searchable.
- Fonts are the ones installed on your device plus Figtree; no web font service is used. If a font in a template isn't installed, Checks tells you and the closest available font is used in both the editor and the download.
- The converter follows fixed rules. It won't summarise, invent statistics or add claims, so a vague draft gives a vague carousel — edit the outline before building the slides.
- Work is saved in this browser only. Clearing site data or using a private window can remove it, so download a project file (JSON) of anything important.

Frequently asked questions
Is this carousel maker free?
Yes. Every template, the editor and every download — PNG, ZIP and PDF — are free. There's no account and no watermark.
How do I post a carousel on LinkedIn?
Choose a LinkedIn document size, design the slides and download the PDF. On LinkedIn, start a post, add a document and upload the PDF — readers swipe through its pages. You can also post the slides as images.
How do I post a carousel on Instagram?
Download the ZIP, unzip it on your phone or computer, then create a post and select the PNGs in order — they're numbered so they sort correctly. Instagram allows up to 20 slides in one carousel.
What's the best Instagram carousel size?
1080 × 1350 pixels (4:5 portrait) takes up the most space in the feed. 1080 × 1080 (square) also works. All slides in one carousel must share the same shape, which the editor keeps for you.
Does “Turn text into slides” use AI?
No. It uses fixed rules to recognise headings, lists, quotes, summaries and calls to action in your text, splits long paragraphs only between sentences, and never adds content. You review and edit the outline before the slides are made.
Can I add my logo and brand colours?
Yes. The Brand panel stores your palette, fonts, logo and handle in this browser, and you can apply them to any carousel. Elements set to palette colours update automatically when you change the brand.
Are my designs uploaded anywhere?
No. Editing and exporting happen in your browser, and projects and images are kept in this browser's storage. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing connects to your social media accounts.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. On small screens the editor switches between Design, Canvas, Properties and Checks views, and you can drag elements with your finger. Large 2× exports are quicker on a computer.
Will I lose my carousel if I close the tab?
No — projects save automatically and reopen from the Projects panel. They live in this browser only, so download a project file to move to another device or keep a backup.
