The basics

What is a mind map?

A mind map puts one idea in the middle and grows related ideas around it as branches, then sub-branches. Because everything stays on one page, you see how the pieces connect — which is why mind maps work so well for planning, note-taking and brainstorming.

Each branch gets its own soft colour, so a busy map still reads at a glance. Move branches anywhere; the curved links follow.

Features

What makes it work

  • Branch with one key

Select an idea and press Tab — a connected branch appears, ready to type. Or click the + on any side.

  • Colour-coded branches

Each main branch carries its colour down to its ideas, so themes stay easy to follow.

  • Free-form canvas

Drag branches to rebalance the map, add notes and frames, and zoom from the big picture to the detail.

Common questions

Is this mind map maker free?

Yes. It's free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on maps. Your maps are saved in your browser.

How do I add a branch?

Select a topic and press Tab, or click one of the + buttons around it. A new connected idea appears with its text ready to type.

Can I export my mind map?

Yes — download a PNG for documents and slides, an SVG that stays sharp at any size, or a .json board file to keep editing later.

Is there another way to make a mind map from text?

Yes. If you'd rather type an indented outline, the Mind Map Maker tool turns it into a balanced map automatically.
