How to use the Merge Images
- Choose two or more images (up to 20).
- Pick Side by side, Stacked or Grid, and reorder the images with the arrows.
- Choose Same height / Same width so the photos line up, then add spacing and a margin if you like.
- Download as JPG, PNG or WebP.
What does this tool do?
Merging is the quickest way to make a before-and-after comparison, send a front-and-back ID scan as one file, or put screenshots next to each other. Side by side scales every image to the same height so the edges line up; stacked does the same with widths, which suits long phone screenshots.
Grid mode places images in equal cells, which works well for product photos. If the result would exceed what a browser can draw (about 16 megapixels), it's scaled down automatically and the tool tells you.
Your images are processed on your own device and never uploaded.
Why use it?
- Up to 20 images at once.
- Lines photos up automatically.
- Transparent background with PNG or WebP.
- Nothing is uploaded.
Common uses
Some layouts that people use most:
| Task | Layout | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Before and after | Side by side, same height | Add a 20 px gap and a white background |
| ID card front and back | Stacked, same width | Download as JPG for online forms |
| Chat or app screenshots | Side by side or stacked | Keep spacing at 0 for a seamless strip |
| Product photos | Grid, 2–3 columns | Use PNG to keep a transparent background |
Common mistakes
- Choosing JPG and expecting transparency — JPG can't store it, so use PNG or WebP.
- Merging very large photos, which makes a huge file. Resize or compress the result afterwards if a form has a size limit.
- Mixing portrait and landscape photos with Original sizes — use Same height or Same width so the edges line up.
Privacy
Your files are processed entirely in your browser using built-in web technologies. They are not uploaded to our servers, and closing the page clears them from memory. There's no account to create and nothing to install.
Frequently asked questions
How do I put two pictures side by side?
Choose both images, select Side by side and keep Same height on. Download the merged image.
Is there a limit on the number of images?
You can merge up to 20 images at once. Very large results are scaled down to stay within the browser's canvas limit.
Will merging reduce quality?
Images keep their resolution unless they're scaled to match another image's height or width, or the whole result has to be scaled down to fit the size limit. PNG output is lossless.
How is this different from the collage maker?
Merge Images joins pictures in a simple row, column or grid. The Photo Collage Maker has designed layouts, text and stickers.
