Calculate

Values in millihenries, assuming no mutual coupling.

Result

In series
32 mH
In parallel
6.875 mH
How it was calculated
  1. Series: L = L₁ + L₂ + …
  2. Parallel: 1/L = 1/L₁ + 1/L₂ + …

How to use the Inductor Calculator

  1. Choose combine or energy & reactance.
  2. Enter the values (inductance in mH).
  3. Read the results.

What does this tool do?

Inductors combine like resistors: in series they add, in parallel their reciprocals add (assuming no magnetic coupling between them).

An inductor stores energy ½LI² in its magnetic field and opposes alternating current with a reactance X = 2πfL that rises with frequency.

Why use it?

  • Series and parallel together.
  • Energy and reactance.
  • Millihenry inputs.

The formula

Series: L = L₁ + L₂
E = ½LI²
X_L = 2πfL
