How to use the Text Art Generator
- Pick a template such as a stacked word cloud, or press Add text to start from your own words.
- Click a word on the canvas and edit it in the panel: font, weight, size, spacing, alignment and capitals.
- Add style: a gradient or solid colour, an outline, a shadow or glow, 3D depth, and a curve for arched or smiling text.
- Drag layers to position them, rotate them, and add shapes. Choose a background, or leave it transparent.
- Download a PNG (up to 3×, transparent if you chose no background) or an SVG.
What does this tool do?
Text art is lettering treated as a picture: a few words, big, coloured and layered until they look designed. This generator keeps every word as live text, so you can keep changing the wording, font or colour without starting again.
Each layer can have its own font and weight, a two- or three-colour gradient, an outline, a drop shadow or glow, and a 3D effect. Text can follow a curve, be fitted to an exact width, and be spaced letter by letter and line by line.
The word-cloud templates stack several words so each one fills the same width, which gives the tidy, shaped look of typographic posters. Swap in your own words and the stack rebuilds itself.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and your last design is kept in this browser so you can come back to it.
Making text art that reads well
Contrast matters more than effects. A pale gradient on a pale background disappears however fancy it is; add an outline or a shadow, or darken the background.
Use one or two fonts. Pair one heavy display font with a simpler one, and let colour and size supply the variety.
Keep 3D depth modest on small text. Deep extrusions suit large headline words and can blur fine letters.

Common mistakes
- Low contrast between text and background. Add an outline or shadow, or change the background.
- Too many fonts. Two at most keeps the design coherent.
- Very tight letter spacing on scripts, which makes letters overlap.
- Extreme curves on long lines, which push the ends off the canvas. Reduce the curve or the size.
- Exporting small for print. Choose 2× or 3× for sharper results.
Accuracy and limits
- Fonts are Latin-only. Characters outside the Latin alphabet may show in a fallback font or not at all.
- SVG downloads embed the fonts and keep text as live text. Some design apps substitute fonts or ask you to convert text to outlines; the PNG always looks exactly like the preview.
- 3D depth is drawn as stacked copies of the text, not a true three-dimensional model, so it suits moderate angles and depths.
- Curved text follows a circular arc, so it can look uneven on very short curves or very long lines.
- The preview and PNG are raster images; only the SVG is vector. Very large sizes are scaled down to stay within browser limits.
- The template words are placeholders. Your design is saved only in this browser, so download your work before clearing site data.

Frequently asked questions
Is this text art generator free?
Yes. All fonts, effects and downloads are free, with no account and no watermark.
Can I download a transparent PNG?
Yes. Set the background to None in the Canvas tab and download a PNG; the checkerboard in the preview is only for display.
Can I download an SVG?
Yes. The SVG keeps your text as live text with the fonts embedded, so it scales to any size.
How do I curve text?
Select a text layer and use the Curve slider. Positive values arch the text upward and negative values make it smile.
How do I make gradient text?
Choose Gradient in the colour section of a text layer, then pick two or three colours and an angle.
Can I add a 3D effect?
Yes. Turn on 3D depth, then set the depth, direction and side colour. It is drawn as stacked copies of the text.
Can I use several words in different styles?
Yes. Add as many text layers as you like, each with its own font, colours and effects, or start from a word-cloud template.
Are my designs uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and your latest design is stored only in this browser.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The panels stack below the preview, and you can drag words with your finger.
