How to use the Photo Frame Maker
- Open the Photos tab and add one or more pictures. Drag the file in, or choose it from your device.
- Pick a template in the Templates tab. Each one sets the frame style, colours, background, shadow and caption look in a single click.
- Change anything you like: border thickness and corner radius, frame colour and texture, the background, shadow and spacing.
- Type a caption and pick a date for each photo. Use the Layout tab for a grid, row, column, feature or scatter arrangement.
- Drag frames in the preview — swap places in a grid, or place them freely in Scatter. Then download PNG or JPG at up to 3× size.
What does this tool do?
A good frame makes a photo feel finished without competing with it. This maker offers seven frame families — Polaroid, vintage, modern, minimal, floral, film and decorative — and every one can be tuned, so a template is a starting point rather than a fixed look.
You can use one photo or up to twelve. In a grid, row, column or feature layout, frames line up and you drag one onto another to swap them. In Scatter, each frame is placed by hand, with its own tilt and size, like prints laid out on a table.
Captions and dates are editable for each photo and sit in the bottom border, as on an instant print. Handwriting fonts are self-hosted, so they load from this site only.
Everything is drawn in your browser. Your photos are decoded on your device, never uploaded, and are not kept after you close the page. Only your style settings are remembered.
Choosing a frame that suits the photo
Let the photo lead. Busy pictures usually look best in a plain frame — minimal, modern or a thin Polaroid — while simple, quiet pictures can carry a more decorated one such as floral or decorative.
Match the frame to where it will be seen. White and cream frames sit well on light backgrounds; black film strips and gold frames stand out on dark ones. Check the Phone preview before you download.

Which size should I choose?
Choose the canvas by where the framed photo will be used. Higher resolutions give sharper prints.

Common mistakes
- A frame that is too thick for a small photo. Reduce the border thickness so the picture stays the main thing.
- Low-contrast captions. Choose a text colour that stands out from the frame colour.
- Heavy shadows on dark backgrounds, where they barely show. Lower the shadow or choose a lighter background.
- Printing from a small export. Choose a print size and 2× or 3× for sharper results.
- Mixing too many frame styles in one design. Stick to one family and let the photos differ.
Accuracy and limits
- The pictures shown on first load are generated samples, not photographs. Downloads are enabled once you add at least one photo of your own, and any samples still in the design are included in the file.
- This tool frames your photos; it does not retouch or enhance them. The optional photo tone (sepia, black and white and so on) may be ignored by some browsers, such as Safari.
- Frame styles are inspired by common looks. No brand logos or trademarked designs are used.
- Photos are not stored between visits. Reloading the page clears them, so download your work first.
- Very large sizes are scaled down so the export stays within what a browser can draw (about 16 million pixels).
Privacy
Your files are processed entirely in your browser using built-in web technologies. They are not uploaded to our servers, and closing the page clears them from memory. There's no account to create and nothing to install.
Frequently asked questions
Is this photo frame maker free?
Yes. Every frame, template and download is free, with no account and no watermark.
Can I frame several photos at once?
Yes. Add up to 12 photos and choose a grid, row, column, feature or scatter layout.
How do I move the frames?
In a grid, row or column, drag one frame onto another to swap them. In Scatter, drag a frame anywhere. You can also use the arrow keys on a selected frame.
Can I add captions and dates?
Yes. Select a photo in the Photos tab, type a caption and choose a date. You can change the font, size, colour and date format in the Captions tab.
Can I change the border thickness and corner radius?
Yes. Both have sliders in the Frame tab, along with colour, gradient, texture, an inner line and a shadow.
Can I save with a transparent background?
Yes. Choose None in the Background tab and download a PNG. JPG files cannot be transparent, so they get a white background.
Can I print my framed photo?
Yes. Choose a print size such as 6 × 4 or 8 × 10 inches and download at 2× or 3× where available.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and photos are never uploaded and are not kept after you close the page.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. The controls stack above the preview on small screens, and you can drag frames with your finger.
