How to compress Image to 1 MB
- Add your photos — the target is set to 1 MB.
- The compressor lowers JPEG quality gently and keeps full resolution unless a photo is extremely detailed.
- Download the photos or a ZIP.
What does this tool do?
Phone cameras now produce 3–12 MB photos, so a “maximum 1 MB” rule on a job portal, school form or website is a common snag. Compressing to just under 1 MB keeps the full resolution of a 12-megapixel photo in most cases — the difference is invisible on screen and in normal prints.
iPhone HEIC photos should be converted to JPG first with the HEIC to JPG converter, because many upload forms don't accept HEIC. Your photos are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Why use it?
- Preset to 1 MB.
- Full resolution in most cases.
- Batch and ZIP download.
- No upload, no sign-up.

Your files are processed entirely in your browser using built-in web technologies. They are not uploaded to our servers, and closing the page clears them from memory. There's no account to create and nothing to install.
Frequently asked questions
Is 1 MB the same as 1,000 KB?
Roughly — some systems use 1,000 KB and others 1,024 KB. This page aims just under 1,000 KB so the file is accepted either way.
Will a 1 MB photo print well?
Yes. A 1 MB JPEG at 3,000–4,000 px wide prints sharply at 6 × 4 inches and even at A4.
Why is my PNG screenshot still big?
PNG is lossless; choose JPG output (the default) and it will drop well under 1 MB.
How do I reduce photo size to 1 MB on iPhone or Android?
Open this page in your phone's browser, tap to add photos from your gallery and download the compressed copies. Nothing is uploaded, so it works on mobile data too.
