How to use the Power Calculator

  1. Choose the formula that matches what you know.
  2. Pick what to solve for.
  3. Enter the values and read the power.

What does this tool do?

Power is the rate of doing work or using energy, measured in watts (joules per second). Lifting a load quickly takes more power than lifting it slowly, even though the work is the same.

In circuits, P = V × I — a 230 V appliance drawing 5 A uses 1,150 W. For moving objects, P = F × v.

Why use it?

  • Mechanical and electrical formulas.
  • Horsepower conversion.
  • Solve for any variable.

The formula

P = W ÷ t
P = V × I
P = F × v

Accuracy and limits

  • Values are in SI units (shown next to each field). Convert other units first, or use our unit converters.
