How to use the Filename Cleaner

  1. Paste file names, one per line.
  2. Choose hyphens or underscores and letter case.
  3. Copy the clean names.

What does this tool do?

Spaces, accents and symbols in file names cause broken links on websites and errors on some systems. The cleaner converts accented letters (é → e), removes symbols and joins words with hyphens, while keeping the file extension.

Why use it?

  • Web-safe image and document names.
  • Avoid “%20” in URLs.
  • Consistent naming across a project.

Example

“Résumé – Anna Müller 2026.pdf” becomes “resume-anna-muller-2026.pdf”.
