  • Free
  • No sign-up
  • Files stay on your device

{name} = original name · {n} = number · {date} = today

Replaces text inside {name}.

or drag and drop them here

Your files stay on your device. Renamed copies are saved as a ZIP.

Your files are processed entirely in your browser using built-in web technologies. They are not uploaded to our servers, and closing the page clears them from memory.

How to use the Batch File Renamer

  1. Choose a name pattern, like photo-{n}.
  2. Set numbering, find/replace and letter case.
  3. Add your files and check the preview.
  4. Download the renamed copies as a ZIP.

What does this tool do?

Patterns can use {name} (the original name), {n} (a counter with zero padding) and {date} (today's date). Duplicate names are prevented automatically. Because browsers can't rename files on your disk, you get renamed copies in a ZIP.

Why use it?

  • Tidy holiday photos (holiday-001.jpg…).
  • Standardize file names for clients or uploads.
  • Remove unwanted words from many names at once.

Example

Pattern “trip-{date}-{n}” with 3 digits turns IMG_4821.JPG, IMG_4822.JPG into trip-2026-10-04-001.jpg, trip-2026-10-04-002.jpg.

Privacy

Your files are processed entirely in your browser using built-in web technologies. They are not uploaded to our servers, and closing the page clears them from memory. There's no account to create and nothing to install.

Frequently asked questions
