How to use the Tip Calculator
- Enter the bill total.
- Choose a tip percentage.
- Enter how many people are paying.
- Turn on rounding if everyone wants to pay a whole amount.
What does this tool do?
The calculator adds the tip to the bill and divides by the number of people. With rounding on, each share is rounded up to the next whole amount, so the group never comes up short.
Tipping customs vary a lot between countries. In the US, 15–20% is common at sit-down restaurants; in many European countries a small round-up or 5–10% is normal; in Japan tipping is generally not expected.
Why use it?
- No mental math at the table.
- Fair splits for groups.
- Rounding option avoids awkward coins.
Example
A bill of $86.40 with an 18% tip is $15.55 of tip, $101.95 in total. Split three ways, that's $33.98 each, or $34 each if you round up.
