How to use the SWIFT / BIC Code Checker
- Enter the 8- or 11-character code.
- See whether the format is valid.
- Read the bank, country, location and branch parts.
What does this tool do?
SWIFT/BIC codes identify banks in international transfers. The first four letters are the bank, the next two the country, then two characters for the location and an optional three-character branch code.
Codes ending in XXX refer to the head office. A 0 in the second location character marks a test code.
Why use it?
- Decodes each part.
- Flags test codes.
- Country names included.
Accuracy and limits
- This checks structure only — it can't confirm which bank owns a code.
