How to use the IBAN Validator
- Paste or type the IBAN — spaces are fine.
- Read whether it's valid.
- Check the country and account details shown.
What does this tool do?
An IBAN (International Bank Account Number) begins with a country code and two check digits, followed by the country's bank account format. The check digits are calculated with the mod-97 algorithm, so most typos make the IBAN invalid.
The validator also checks that the length matches the country — for example 22 characters for the UK and Germany. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing you enter is sent to us.
Why use it?
- Checksum and length checks.
- Formats in groups of four.
- Private, in-browser.
Accuracy and limits
- A valid IBAN is correctly formed, but that doesn't prove the account exists. Confirm payment details directly with the recipient.
Privacy
The calculation happens instantly in your browser. The numbers you enter are not sent to our servers or saved. There's no account to create and nothing to install.
