How to use the Leap Year Checker
- Enter a year.
- See whether it's a leap year and how many days it has.
- Check the previous, next and upcoming leap years.
What does this tool do?
The Gregorian calendar adds a 29th of February every four years to keep in step with the Earth's orbit, which takes about 365.2422 days. Century years are skipped unless they're divisible by 400 — so 2000 was a leap year but 1900 and 2100 aren't.
That rule keeps the calendar accurate to within a day every 3,000 years or so.
Why use it?
- Explains the rule for your year.
- Previous and next leap years.
- Works for any year.
