How to Convert PDF Pages to Images (JPG or PNG)

Turn PDF pages into JPG or PNG images at the right resolution for screens, printing or social media — and when to choose PNG instead of JPG.

Quick answer

Open the PDF to JPG tool, choose your PDF, pick 150 DPI for screens or 300 DPI for printing, and click Convert. Choose PNG instead if the pages are mostly text or diagrams and you want them perfectly crisp.

You might need a PDF page as an image to post it on social media, drop it into a presentation, send it in a chat app or attach it to a form that only accepts images. The only real decision is resolution — and whether JPG or PNG suits the content.

How to do it

  1. 1
Choose the PDF. It's opened in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
  2. 2
Pick a resolution (DPI) and, if you only need some pages, type them (e.g. 1-3, 7).
  3. 3
Click Convert, then download individual images or a ZIP of all of them.

Which resolution to choose

DPI (dots per inch) sets how many pixels each inch of the page becomes. More pixels means sharper images and bigger files.

JPG or PNG?

JPG is best for pages with photos: small files, natural-looking images. PNG is best for pages that are mostly text, tables or line drawings: lossless, so edges stay razor-sharp, though files are larger. For a page of plain text, a PNG can actually be smaller than a high-quality JPG.

Tips

  • Need the result smaller for an upload? Run the images through the Image Compressor.
  • Need just one page as a PDF rather than an image? Use Split PDF instead.
  • Password-protected PDFs need the password removed in your PDF reader first.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my converted image look blurry?

The resolution was too low for how you're viewing it. Convert again at 220 or 300 DPI.

Can I convert scanned PDFs?

Yes. A scanned PDF is already a set of images inside a PDF, so it converts just like any other.
