Tongue twisters
Tongue Twister Challenge
Beat the clock: count clean repetitions, log slips, chase a best score.
About the Tongue Twister Challenge
The challenge turns a tongue twister into a timed game. Choose a twister and a time limit, get a 3-2-1 countdown, then repeat it as many times as you can without a slip. Tap the big Clean button (or press Space) for each good repetition and Slip (or X) for each mistake.
Your score rewards clean reps and is multiplied for harder levels, with a small penalty per slip. Personal bests are saved for each twister in your browser. If you allow the microphone you can record the attempt and listen back, which is one of the best ways to hear what your mouth is really doing.
The challenge works best as a measuring stick. Pick one twister, set a baseline score today, then try again in a few days after some slow practice. Because scores are saved per twister, you can see exactly how much cleaner you have become. Harder levels multiply your score, so a messy expert run can still beat a perfect beginner one.
How to use it
- 1Pick a twister, or open one from the generator.
- 2Press Start. After the 3-2-1 countdown, say the twister aloud.
- 3Press Clean (Space) after every clean repetition and Slip (X) after a mistake.
- 4When time is up, see your score, accuracy and whether you set a personal best.
Practice tips
- Aim for clean reps first; the score is built around accuracy, not speed.
- Take a breath between repetitions instead of rushing them together.
- Record yourself once and listen: you often hear slips you did not feel.
- Pick one twister and repeat the challenge on three days to see real progress.
What it measures, and what it doesn’t
You count your own reps and slips, so scores are honest only if you are. The app does not judge your pronunciation. Score = clean reps × 10 × level bonus − slips × 5, never below zero.
What your browser needs: Optional: a microphone to record and play back your attempt.
Progress is saved in your browser only. See the privacy policy.
Tongue Twister Challenge FAQ
Why do I have to count my own repetitions?
Browsers can't reliably tell which words were said perfectly, and we won't invent an AI accuracy score. Self-counting is dependable and keeps you listening to yourself.
Where are my best scores saved?
In your browser's local storage on this device. Clearing site data resets them.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. Recording is optional, stays in memory on your device, and disappears when you leave the page.
