Odd Tile — free online speed game

Spot the one tile whose shade is slightly off — and the differences keep shrinking.

About Odd Tile

Odd Tile tests colour perception and focus. A grid of identical tiles hides one that is a hair lighter or darker; tap it before the clock runs out. Each correct find adds a bigger grid and a subtler difference, so the game keeps pace with your eyes.

Your best score, XP and achievements are saved in this browser only.

How to play Odd Tile

  1. 1Look for the tile with a slightly different shade.
  2. 2Tap it to score and move to the next grid.
  3. 3Grids grow and differences shrink as you go.
  4. 4A wrong tap costs time. When 45 seconds are up, your score is saved.

Controls: Tap or click a tile. Keyboard: Tab between tiles and press Space.

Tips and strategy

  • Squint slightly or look just beside the grid — peripheral vision spots contrast better.
  • Raise your screen brightness for subtle shades.
  • Scan in rows instead of jumping around.

Odd Tile FAQ

Is this a colour blindness test?

No. It is a game, not a diagnostic. People with colour vision differences may find some shades harder.

Why does my score depend on my screen?

Different displays show subtle shades differently, so compare scores on one device.

What is a good score?

Finding 15 or more odd tiles in 45 seconds is very good.
