About Tiny Planet Keepers

Tiny Planet Keepers turns caring for the environment into small, positive jobs. A little planet sits beside every round, and it gets greener, bluer and happier as children play: trees grow, animals come back and the clouds turn white. In Sort It Out, children drag cans, peels, newspapers and chip packets into recycle, compost or trash bins, and every item comes with a one-line reason. Habitat Homes asks them to take animals to the ocean, polar ice, desert, rainforest, grassland, pond or farm. Helping Hands gives everyday situations — the tap running while brushing teeth, litter by a river — and three things to do, with a kind explanation for every choice. Food Chains asks children to put the sun, a plant and two animals in order. Nothing in the game is scary or guilt-based; it's about what helps. In My Planet, children plant trees, grow flowers, send rain and invite animals onto a planet of their own, which their browser remembers.

What children learn

  • Sort common household items into recycling, compost and trash
  • Match animals to the habitats where they live and say why
  • Choose actions that save water, energy and resources, and explain them
  • Understand that energy passes from the sun to plants to animals in a food chain
  • See how small actions add up to a healthier environment

Tips for parents

  • Recycling rules differ from town to town, so check what your local bins accept and talk about any differences from the game.
  • Sort the real recycling together after playing — children love being the expert.
  • Keep it positive: focus on what your family already does well.
  • Watch for animals in your garden or park and talk about what they need: food, water and shelter.
  • My Planet is a calm activity for winding down.

Tips for teachers

  • Connects to NGSS K-ESS3-3 (reduce human impact on land, water, air and living things) and 2-LS4-1 (compare the diversity of life in different habitats).
  • Food Chains offers a simple introduction ahead of food webs in later grades.
  • Use Helping Hands scenarios as discussion cards: what else could help?
  • Pair with a classroom sorting activity using clean, real packaging.

Tiny Planet Keepers FAQ

Are the recycling answers right for where I live?

The game uses common, general guidance: paper, cans, glass and clean plastic bottles are recycled; food scraps and leaves are composted; chip packets and sweet wrappers go in the trash because most places can't recycle them. Local rules vary, so it's worth checking your own area.

Is the game scary or guilt-based?

No. There are no disaster pictures and no blame. Wrong choices get a gentle reason, and the planet only ever gets happier as children play.

What age is Tiny Planet Keepers for?

Ages 5 to 9. Sorting and habitats suit younger children; Helping Hands and Food Chains suit six- to nine-year-olds.

Does My Planet save?

Yes, in your browser only. Trees, flowers, rain and animals stay there for next time on the same device. Nothing is sent anywhere, and you can start a new planet at any time.

Is it free and safe?

Yes. No sign-up, chat or personal information.
