About Number Adventure
Number Adventure turns math facts into a journey. Zuzu needs to cross four magical lands, and every correct answer is a hop to the next stepping stone. Children practise addition and subtraction within 30, collect a star for every first-try answer and get a gentle hint whenever they need one.
What children learn
- Recall addition facts within 10 and within 20 with growing speed
- Use counting on (from the bigger number) and counting back strategies
- Subtract within 20 and see subtraction as the opposite of addition
- Add and subtract to 30, including sums that cross a ten
- Match numerals to quantities — the first land shows dots to count
Tips for parents
- Keep it short and sweet: one adventure takes about 5–10 minutes, which is plenty for young children.
- Read the hint together and ask “Where do we start? How many more?” rather than giving the answer.
- Praise the strategy (“You counted on from the bigger number!”) more than the speed.
- Act out a tricky sum with real things — coins, blocks or grapes — then play again.
- Confident kids still enjoy starting in Sunny Meadow: quick wins build momentum before the harder lands.

Tips for teachers
- No login or setup, so it works as a warm-up on an interactive whiteboard or as a tablet station.
- Differentiate by starting land: Sunny Meadow for emerging learners, Star Castle for pupils ready for numbers to 30.
- Practises US Common Core K.OA.A.5, 1.OA.C.6 and 2.OA.B.2, and the UK Year 1–2 objectives for number facts within 20.
- After playing, ask pupils to explain one strategy they used — counting on, making ten or a known double.
Number Adventure FAQ
What age is Number Adventure for?
It's designed for children aged 5 to 9. Five- and six-year-olds usually start in Sunny Meadow, where sums stay within 10 and dots help with counting. Seven- to nine-year-olds can start in Cloud Kingdom or Star Castle.
Is Number Adventure free?
Yes. It's free to play in any modern browser, with no download, account or in-game purchases.
Does it work on tablets and phones?
Yes. The answer buttons are large and touch-friendly and the game adapts to small screens. It also works with a mouse, or a keyboard using keys 1–4.
What happens when my child gets an answer wrong?
The game shows a friendly hint and gives another try. If the second try is also wrong, it shows the correct answer and carries on, so children never get stuck or feel told off.
How is the score worked out?
A correct first-try answer earns 10 points, plus a streak bonus of 2 points for each answer already in the current streak (up to 10 extra). A correct second try earns 5 points. Every first-try answer also earns a star.
Does the game collect personal information?
No. There's no sign-up and the game never asks for a name or other details. The only thing saved is the best score, which stays in the browser on your device.
